Watch: I Am Potential (2015)

Based on a true story, this movie is one of the best I've seen for a while. While Christianity isn't very pronounced in the movie, there is a reverence for God among the family. Maybe they were more Christian than the movie portrayed, yet they toned it down for the lukewarm audience?

The story involves a young married couple having their first child, a boy. The dad was an athlete and was looking forward to having a son to play sports. Unfortunately, they find out he was born without eyes and will have trouble walking because of dwarfism and bone development issues.

Having a baby born blind is one thing, but having them born with eyes is even worse. The boy (Patrick) had to have glass eyeballs put into his skull.

Although Patrick wasn't able to play sports, his dad found out he liked music. This led to Patrick playing the piano and then the trumpet. Once he started playing the trumpet, he began playing in the high school marching band and later in a college marching band.

The couple went on to have two more normal and healthy boys. The movie shows how hard it was for the father to be there for his son and family while still working at a company with an office job. Eventually, he had to make a decision to quit and take another job that allowed him to continue to push his son in the marching band, as Patrick was in a wheelchair.

The filming, acting, and storyline are all quality in this movie, and the true story is very inspiring for the human spirit and for faith in God. Well worth spending an hour and a half watching one night. Blessings.
